What is the
Golden Visa Portugal program?

The Golden Visa is a five years residency program which allows foreign investors to obtain Portuguese citizenship. 

The program was created by the Portuguese government in 2012 with the aim of raising funds for the development of projects in the country through the attraction of foreign investments. It is currently one of the most attractive and advantageous means of gaining access to residency or European citizenship.

How does it work?

By investing in Portugal the client will have absolute freedom to live and work in Portugal and in other Schengen countries.

Program Law

The Government of Portugal published the new Golden Visa Program Law in Oct/2023, when real estate investments ceased to be eligible for the Program, which is now limited to income-generating investments, including the InVino Fund.

Timeline

After the investment in InVino Fund is concluded, the investor legal representatives need to gather all of necessary documents and submit the Golden Visa application to the Immigration authority. Once the application process is pre approved, the authorities will schedule a face to face meeting to collect the investors biometric data.

What is the Golden Visa Portugal Program and is it still valid in Portugal?

What changed in the Golden Visa Portugal Program after the publication of the new law in Oct/2023?

With the publication of Law 56/2023 on last Oct/06, investments in real estate purchases are no longer eligible for the program. The program is now restricted to investments in income generation, including the InVino Fund. Thus, the era of real estate acquisitions under the Golden Visa Program has ended, giving way to a new era of strategic investments in sustainable income generation, like the InVino Fund.

Is the InVino Fund still eligible for the Golden Visa Program?

Yes, the InVino Fund meets all the necessary requirements to qualify for the Golden Visa Program, as per the Management Regulations, including:

- Registration with Portuguese regulatory entities, i.e., CMVM;

- Fund life exceeding the mandatory minimum of 5 years;

- Allocation of at least 60% of capital to investments in Portuguese companies;

- No direct or indirect investment in the real estate market.
